TIMING CHAIN / BELT REPAIR & REPLACEMENT
Timing chain / timing belt issues can soon make your vehicle undrivable, and lead to secondary issues that can be expensive to repair. Regular servicing, using the correct oil, and regular oil level checks will both head off issues and extend the life of your timing chain / belt.
JLR claim that timing chains last the lifetime of the vehicle, but in our experience, they need replacing after around 60,000 miles. Our mechanics have replaced and repaired the timing chains and belts on over a hundred vehicles – there’s nothing we don’t know about them.
WARNING SIGNS
The following indications could mean that you have an issue with you timing chain / timing belt – don’t ignore these signs, get in touch for expert help:
- Engine Rattling Noise / Misfires: A metallic rattling noise, especially at cold start or poor performance can be the result of timing chain issues. If you have a timing belt, you might notice squeaking from the engine.
- Poor Performance: timing chain issues can lead to incorrect valve timing, and result in poor engine performance.
- Engine Warning Light: The check engine light may illuminate due to issues with the timing system.
- Difficulty Starting: a broken or damaged chain or belt can manifest in difficulty starting.

I can’t recommend these guys enough They diagnosed the problem with my car almost immediately and explained everything clearly. Rather than guessing, they identified the fault straight away and came up with the right solution. They had my car repaired and back on the road within just two days, which was far quicker than I expected, Great communication, honest service and excellent workmanship throughout. Great to have a local land rover specialist in walking distance.
Lovely people to deal with, friendly, professional, and most importantly know what they are doing with land rovers. Better then going to the main dealer, and better pricing and update the land rover logs with anything carried out.
Cannot fault them at all, our baby disco will be going there for any work it may need doing (leaky shocks being one).
Highly recommended.

This garage is a little gem found alongside the canal in Timperley. I have bought part worn tyres before but remembered they also did servicing and mots!
Booked the car in at 2.00pm and it was done by 4.00pm. Friendly staff and extremely knowledgable and efficient mechanics and technicians. Will definitely go to these first if I need anything else
